At Shippy Cattle Company, each feeding program is custom designed to meet the goals for each individual customer and their cattle based upon the targeted performance.

With multiple connections in the industry, Shippy Cattle Company has the ability to source cattle for customers. We also work with customers on retained ownership of their cattle.

Our customers include those who only feed one to two pens of cattle each year to those who bring several loads at a time on a continual basis. All classes of cattle are received throughout the year with many bawling calves weaned each fall. Shippy Cattle Company backgrounds calves for finishing lots, grass pasture, consignment barns, replacement females, and occasionally finishes cattle for slaughter. Each group of cattle is started in a smaller starter pen for optimal introduction to feed and water where they can be best monitored for health and performance. From there, they are moved to larger pens and pastures.

All the pens have wind protection and a sand base that dries quickly after wet and muddy conditions, keeping cattle clean, dry, and comfortable.
Custom Cattle Feeding
For each group of cattle, a customized feeding ration is developed with a customer’s target performance and growing goal in mind. Cattle growth and performance is monitored to establish if changes to the program are needed and that targeted growth is being reached.
Nutrition
With a well-trained nutrition team with many years of experience, we are able to develop individualized rations for each specific group of cattle that are tailored to reach different performance goals. Shippy Cattle Company works to source high quality feeds while implementing proven technologies and feeding methods that help not only our improvement, but also the efficiency and cost effectiveness of our customers’ cattle.
As a priority of Shippy Cattle Company’s feeding strategy, we understand that cattle must be healthy in order to grow and perform. Healthy calves are maintained through a health program that is updated with the input of our local veterinarian and nutritionist. Each group of cattle is processed carefully to fit each customer’s protocol preference. After initial processing, cattle are watched closely each day to ensure that any needed treatment is done quickly to optimize the performance potential of each calf.

Using proven and effective cattle processing and treatment methods, as well as implementing new technology with the consultation of our veterinarian that are approved industry standards, Shippy Cattle Company strives to maintain the health and wellness of the cattle we feed.
Services Beyond the Bunk
Performance Record Keeping
We assist cattlemen by gathering performance information that can be used to identify top-performing genetics and best-method practices back at the ranch. Feedlot performance records are carefully kept for each individual group or pen of cattle and are used to analyze economic and performance data. Monthly progress reports and closeouts are generated in order to track cattle development.
Buyers
Shippy Cattle Company has worked to build and maintain relationships with order buyers around the region to better serve those interested in purchasing calves. By working with these buyers, Shippy Cattle Company is able to cater to cattle of different regions and also the many differences in the people that they serve and work with.
Trucking
While those old fashion cattle drives may be how calves used to get around, Shippy Cattle Company has several options for trucking for customers who need it.
